As far as I knew we only had a small handful of 90+ faith priests. Though I agree the 5 minute cooldown for break altar should be removed thus eliminating the problem related to it, that's just assumptions that mr has tons of priests for this. (Even though MR has the largest playerbase on wild and has the most priests and alts.) Remove the cooldown for break altar since this will eliminate the trouble with lack of priests. Now I think that Rolf has probably calculated an attacking force of around 100ish players with probably something like 10 priests for this to work. Since the altars also has a no walls around them attackers are pretty much good archery targets as well and as such players could probably harash the bashers quite a bit.Įdit : The 20 number above is just an example in case Madt is right you require such a minimum amount in order for the attacks to be effective. With 20 players bashing the altar continually you would require another 20 ish defenders (that can assist with bashing the tower if no enemies are around) if you want to stand a chance to break it down, adding a couple of priests for healing and defense would speed things up a bit but enemy players could do the same. For each 1 attacker one would probably need 2 defenders to ensure good ods, an enemy force consisting of 10 good attackers would require 20 defenders. So lets say it requires 20 active players attacking the altar and 5 priest to get anywhere, what would happen once enemy forces shows up, how many players would one need then? Well, you are pretty much right that for exact sience one would need more players, but honestly what is a good estimate on how many players one need to start trying to attack the altars? Please give a good number for what you consider to be a fair try. Looks to me like you just want it made easier for you. With that gone 2 priests can have constant casts going on it. I even agreed that break altar cooldown needs to be removed. Mine however is arguing to say go try it with more people and see if its different. The difference is your speculation is arguing in favor of changing something that otherwise might be totally fine and you're just not trying properly. Just becuase 5 peoepl cant destroy it, who says it wouldnt work with more people? Not everything is linear in this game, so maybe doing 0,01 dmg with one person could mean doing 10 damage with 10, you dont know. Id say that it needs more testing, and more testing done by more different people, before any changes are made. How much do we actually know snce this got changed? This is of course without even considering enemy players into the equations, area defenses (to get to the altar / back ) etc, so basically you could say that sure the altars area breakable in theory but considering wurm servers and number of players (and stability of said server when under stress) it just won't happen.Ĭonsidering the playerbase I'd personally change it so that break Altar spells didnt do actual damage to the altar, but lowered the magical protecion and regeneration of the altar in question, that way players using bashing weapons could do more damage (and rolf could calculate the amount of players needed instead of making it impossible) and could at least percieve that they are actually part of something. Well, It's pretty sad though that the damage done by 5 people in around 8 mins equals to 0.0007, with even a group of 500 people the damage done would have been 0.35 in 8 mins which basically would mean around 3.5 Points in 80 mins or 9 Points of damage in the timeframe you have to destroy the altars (this not counting the repair ratios).īasically it removes non player priests from actually destroying the altars, thus if you really wants to and have such an opportunity at all you will need to make an alt priest and build him up in the characteristics needed to cast the spell succesfully enough times.
